Riverbed to Showcase IT Infrastructure
Performance Solutions at VMworld 2009
Virtualized Platform Allows Enterprises to Consolidate Branch
Office IT Infrastructure without Compromising Performance
SAN FRANCISCO – August 27, 2009
Riverbed Technology (Nasdaq: RVBD), the IT infrastructure performance
company for networks, applications and storage, today announced
its participation at VMworld 2009, taking place Aug. 31 – Sept.
3 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco. Now in its sixth year,
VMworld is the leading virtualization event for IT professionals
to discover how virtualization is revolutionizing the next generation
of computing - providing even more efficiency and flexibility at
a time when both are critical to the future of IT. At the conference,
Riverbed® (booth #1332) will showcase the capabilities of its
WAN optimization solutions, including the Riverbed Services Platform
(RSP), a virtualized partition within the Riverbed Steelhead® appliance
that allows organizations to consolidate their branch office IT
infrastructure without impacting employee productivity.
Riverbed Steelhead appliances accelerate the performance of applications
between data centers, remote offices and mobile workers by five to 50 times
and in some cases up to 100 times. Steelhead appliances enable enterprises
to efficiently collaborate across VMware environments, while at the same
time centralizing and consolidating IT resources – all without sacrificing
application performance. Joint Riverbed and VMware customers can more efficiently
replicate VMware environments to set up remote and branch offices backed
by disaster recovery, all while experiencing performance improvements of
up to 55x.
With the RSP – the Steelhead appliances running on the VMware platform
- enterprises can further consolidate IT infrastructure by running up to
five remote office virtual edge services, without the need for separate dedicated
servers. This approach allows enterprises to improve asset utilization, operational
efficiency and business agility, while ensuring end-user satisfaction. Services
currently available for deployment on the RSP include streaming media, print
services, network management sensors, unified threat management/web proxy
services and DNS/DHCP/IPAM.
